Why the Extra Second?
Let’s face it, exercise can be the
difference between living an enjoyable and hopefully long and healthy life or
living a life of quiet desperation and regret.
If you decide for yourself that exercise is a good idea, then you are far more likely to turn it into a habit. If it is simply another chore that has to be done then you are probably going to do the dishes and laundry first and neglect the fitness side of life. Like most enjoyable things in life, some initial work needs to be invested in order to reap the rewards. By choosing to do something positive with your health like exercising for 121 seconds a day, it does require a commitment. This commitment will become a habit after six weeks and enjoyable much sooner. To cut to the chase, if your exercise is fun and beneficial then why not do an extra second each day? The second reason why 121 seconds is promoted over 2 minutes is that it places more emphasis on the short time needed. Many of the 121 Second exercises are fairly intense and you certainly feel each second of them. You are less likely to cut corners if you shoot for 121 seconds as opposed to 2 minutes. 2 minutes can easily become 1 minute, but 121 seconds is a long way off 60 seconds. By timing to the second, you are less likely to short change yourself. The third reason why you are not reading this article on 120seconds.com is that this domain name was already taken. Thankfully it was already in use, as in hindsight I think 121 Seconds has more of a ring to it anyway. |
