Why Exercise in a Flared, Three Piece, Pinstripe Suit?
My suit formerly belonged to the son of an elderly lady my mother used to wood carve with. The suit was passed on for free. It is a little baggy around the waist and the vest is ridiculously small, but the other dimensions are perfect. It has been worn to fancy dress parties, symphonies and now is also part of my fitness apparel.
The quality of a suit stitched before you were born is rare. Basically, if it has lasted this long, it must be durable. As fashion spins itself around in an increasingly dizzying cycle, this suit has proven to be the vanguard of style at least three times this year alone.
So back to the original question...Why?
When you are wearing three layers at a time on a warm summers day, any exercise you do will be multiplied. Firstly, there is the added weight of that quality fabric. Secondly, the increased temperature forces your body to work even harder. This will improve your workout efficiency and will hasten gains, leaving you with more time for other pursuits.
Other side effects include protecting your elbows and knees as you commando roll. You’ll also be the best dressed fitness freak around. You might as well be turning heads rather than turning over your cash for expensive, branded fitness apparel you just don’t need.
There is no shortage of ‘Cutting Edge’, ‘Must Have’, ‘Space Age’ fitness crap you can buy and clothing is no exception. When faced with these options I think it pays to listen to the advice of Thoreau who once said something like,
“Be wary of any enterprise that requires new clothes”.
So yeah, my Flared, Three Piece, Pinstripe Suit is a stylish middle finger to expensive fitness fashion.
The 'Over and Under' was the first 121 Second exercise featuring the suit.
